  • Athletic Trainer

    Chatham Hall is excited to begin a search for a part-time Athletic Trainer for the 2026-2027 academic year. Chatham Hall—a girls’ grades 9-12 boarding and day school in southern Virginia—has been a leader in educating girls since 1894. Chatham Hall Athletics ensures that students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals through a variety of opportunities offered. The successful candidate is one who loves facilitating learning and who is invigorated by time spent with young people.

    Chatham Hall Athletics offers the following sports: field hockey, volleyball, cross-country, tennis, basketball, swimming and diving, soccer, golf, track and field, lacrosse, and a year-round riding program. Additionally, we offer dance, theater, robotics, yoga, and strength and conditioning as afternoon activities.

    Responsibilities
    • In this role, you will provide athletic training services, including evaluating, treating, preventing, and rehabbing sports injuries.
    • Recognize and provide treatment during medical emergencies.
    • Monitor students’ progress through the concussion protocol. 
    • Document treatment and progress.
    • Aid in the boarding program to help promote the Living Well initiative.
    • Assist in the supervision of athletic contests each season.

    Requirements
    • Must be certified with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Board of Certification.

    • Must have either a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Athletic Training, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training. 
    • BLS CPR Certification required.

    This Director provides innovative strategic leadership in all aspects of enrollment management, including overseeing all admission practices and outreach.     Role Responsibilities 
    The Director of Enrollment partners closely with school leadership to set data-informed enrollment and tuition goals and to guide a thoughtful, multi-year strategy that advances the school’s mission and long-term growth. This leader oversees a welcoming and engaging admission process, ensuring that every prospective family—from inquiry through enrollment—experiences warmth, clarity, and authentic connection. With responsibility for admission, financial aid, and retention committees, the Director ensures equitable decision-making and supports a vibrant, diverse student body. The Director uses data, research, and strong analytical tools to monitor trends, strengthen recruitment and retention, and adapt strategies across day and boarding programs. They cultivate meaningful relationships with families, consultants, feeder schools, and community partners, and collaborate closely with Marketing and Communications to develop compelling messaging and outreach.   • Director of the Health Care Center

    Chatham Hall is excited to begin the search for a Director of the Health Care Center. Chatham Hall, a girls’ grades 9-12 boarding and day school in southern Virginia, has been a leader in educating girls since 1894. The Director of the Health Care Center is responsible for the daily operations of the residential Health Care Center (HCC) and for establishing a proactive wellness approach for the Chatham Hall community. The Director of the Health Care Center manages all matters pertaining to the Health Care Center Staff, including establishing policies and procedures to ensure quality care for the Chatham Hall community. Other tasks include participating in medical exams and reviewing findings to evaluate the health status and progress of students; providing emergency treatment and first aid to students and staff; collaborating with School personnel in identifying and meeting the social, emotional, and physical needs of students; and coordinating care and assisting in referrals to health agencies outside of Chatham Hall.

    In addition to daily responsibilities, the next Director of the Health Care Center will have the chance to shape innovative wellness programs that truly support adolescents' health and development, inspiring a sense of purpose.

    The primary focus of a Director of the Health Care Center includes, but is not limited to: 
    • Supervise and/or administer primary care; provide assessment, examination, and referrals according to written medical directives; collect accurate health-related data.
    • Provide follow-up care, including medication, treatments, and healthcare information.
    • Collaborating closely with school personnel such as nurses, athletic trainers, and counselors, the Director will be integral to a supportive team dedicated to students' holistic health.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Counseling Services, the Director of Student and Community Life, and others to help support students’ ability to engage in Chatham Hall.
    • Assess data collected and make primary decisions on the health management of individual students.
    • Initiate counseling and health education to allow patients to cope with presenting issues as necessary.
    • Routinely act as a second-opinion consultant for nursing staff.
    • Maintain communication between the School, parents, and health professionals.
    • Maintains student health records up to date in Magnus and ensures proper documentation of physicals, immunizations, and insurance as required by the government and Chatham Hall.
    • Review all student health records and note all physical or emotional restrictions and allergies. Make faculty aware of these as deemed appropriate.
    • Assist with scheduling on- and off-campus appointments with psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists, collaborating with Chatham Hall’s Director of Counseling Services to assess students' counseling needs and make appropriate referrals.

    Personnel and Administrative:
    • Supporting, supervising, developing, and scheduling the nursing staff and providers outside of the School to whom students are referred.
    • The management of all facilities operations as they relate to the medical/nursing needs of the Health Care Center, as well as confirmation of the professional certifications of Health Care Center staff and other health care providers who have contact with students.
    • Provides educational opportunities for faculty and staff to ensure employees meet the minimum yearly educational requirements established by the HCC.
    • Establishes and maintains policies, procedures, and protocols for HCC.
    • Ensures the Health Care Center is stocked with all necessary medications and equipment to meet the student population’s daily healthcare needs.
    • Monitors and oversees the Health Care Center’s yearly budget.
    • Maintain inventory of all medications, medical supplies, and equipment. Order supplies as needed within budgetary parameters
    • Hire, train, staff, schedule, and supervise the nursing staff.
    • Perform an annual evaluation of the nursing staff, identifying areas for individual improvement and ways to improve the overall quality of health care for the community.

    Other Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with others at Chatham Hall to help create, develop, and implement education and programming focused on students' health and well-being.
    • Maintains, directs, and oversees the proper documentation of faculty and staff health-related professional development, such as CPR, blood-borne pathogens, and MAT training.
    • Participate in various school committees.
    • Attend faculty meetings and counseling group meetings.
    • Perform additional duties as directed, including those related to health education and programming, support, and student success.

    Qualifications:
    • A candidate for this position must be a registered nurse or nurse practitioner licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
    • The candidate must have a special interest in adolescent health care and understand students' particular needs in a boarding school community.
    • Current CPR certification or willing to become certified in an approved course.

  • Part-time Drivers

    Chatham Hall seeks part-time drivers to transport students and faculty in a school-owned minivan, 14-passenger bus, or 11-passenger Sprinter—no CDL required. Travel may include attending sporting events, local appointments, and airports. Must clear background check and drug screenings. Rates are dependent on the drive.

  • School Nurse (Part-time, Full-time, PRN)

    Chatham Hall, an all-girls boarding high school in Chatham, VA, seeks a passionate and collaborative Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join their team. 

    The School Nurse provides professional nursing care, promotes health and wellness, and responds to the medical needs of students and employees within the school’s community. Due to the nature of a boarding school environment, evening availability is required.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Provides direct nursing care to students and employees, including assessments, treatments, and referrals as needed.
    • Administers prescribed medications and maintains accurate documentation.
    • Responds quickly and efficiently to health-related incidents and emergencies.

  • Dance Instructor

    Start Date: August 13, 2026 

    Chatham Hall is seeking a dynamic dance teacher to lead our after-school activities program, Monday through Friday from 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching dance in high schools. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can support dorm life, teach Spanish, and/or support our Communications director in graphic design. These additional responsibilities can lead to a full-time faculty position.

    Key Responsibilities 
    • Offer a broad concert dance curriculum that is suitable for varying levels of prior dance training, from beginner to advanced dancer. This includes ballet, pointe, modern/contemporary, jazz, and improvisation, among other forms of dance. 
    • Produce three yearly performances, including possible collaboration with musical theatre in the winter. 
    • Ability to teach using various dance styles and methodologies from beginning to advanced level. 
    • Develop dance curriculum and prepare lesson plans. 
    • Communicate with a diverse group of students and parents. 
    • Choreograph routines and select music for recitals and concerts.
    • Provide a fun and creative environment.
    • Keep up-to-date in the discipline and implement any changes to dance routines and curriculum as needed.

  • Riding Instructor and Assistant Equine Studies Coordinator

    Chatham Hall is seeking a dynamic Riding Instructor & Assistant Equine Studies Coordinator to support its riding program, which is grounded in the American Forward Riding System, as well as its academic equine studies curriculum. The ideal candidate will bring experience in teaching riding, developing horses, and instructing students across a range of abilities, while also supporting the coordination of the Equine Studies Certificate Program and contributing to the life of the school community.

    • Tracking student progress and program completion

    • Managing Horsemanship Hours and Mane Mentoring during the riding season

    Barn & Program Support:
    • Coordinating daily riding schedules and horse assignments
    • Administering approved therapeutic treatments to horses before and/or after work
    • Assisting with general barn duties as needed, including stalls, clipping, and turnout, in coordination with the Barn Manager
    • Supporting barn staff and ensuring smooth daily operations
    • Assisting in organizing and running on-campus horse shows
    • Traveling with students to off-campus horse shows as needed
    • Supporting riding program admissions efforts, including tours and occasional travel

    Coaching & Student Engagement:
    • Coaching the Middle School IEA Team, including leading approximately two practices per month
    • Traveling with Middle and Upper School students to selected IEA competitions
    • Supporting student development, sportsmanship, and teamwork 

    Other:
    • Participating in the residential life program, including possible dorm supervision and community-building
    • Attending all required school events, including assemblies, meetings, competitions, and special events

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required; equine studies, animal science, education, or related field preferred

  • Spanish Teacher, Advisor, Coach, & Dorm Advisor

    Start Date: August 13, 2026 

    Chatham Hall is seeking a dynamic Spanish teacher to teach five high school Spanish classes. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Spanish in high schools, including planning and delivering instruction, assessing student progress, and communicating with various stakeholders to support student learning. 

    In this active boarding community, faculty members also serve as advisors to a small group of students, keeping track of their academic progress, social involvement, and creating a family away from home. Faculty participate in some way in athletics, weekend activities, and/or committee work that helps us continue to grow and move forward as a community.

    Special consideration will be given to candidates who can coach volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse, or track and field or teach yoga classes.

    Key Responsibilities 
    Teaching:
    • Planning and executing engaging, relevant, and student-centered Spanish lessons
    • Differentiating instruction to support and engage a diverse community of learners
    • Meeting with students during office hours to explain concepts and proctor make-up assessments

Application Process
If selected, those applying for faculty positions can expect to receive an email from the contact expressing interest in continuing the process. Candidates will have an initial Zoom interview with an individual on the hiring team, followed by a robust set of interviews on campus with faculty, administrators, and students. Additional interviews and visits may be scheduled as needed. Teaching candidates may be asked to teach a class.

Those applying for staff positions can expect to participate in a phone interview followed by an in-person interview if selected as a finalist for the position.
