Chatham Hall combines the best of small-town life with easily accessible big cities. There’s something for everyone in the area!

Located in a town of 1,300 residents in southwestern Virginia, Chatham Hall offers its students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to truly get to know and have an impact on the local community. The is not only home to Chatham Hall and Hargrave Military Academy, but a walkable main street boasting eateries, salons, local government offices, and nonprofits, a bookshop, and even the town newspaper. The Chatham Public Library and a variety of parks are all within walking distance as well, and the Chatham Rotary Club and other community organizations host events throughout the year.
 
Just slightly further afield are Virginia cities , , and and North Carolina cities , , , , and all within a two-hour drive. , Va. and , N.C. are both within a three-hour drive. This proximity translates to easy day and weekend trips to enjoy cultural activities, shopping, athletic events, and more!

  • Plane Travel

    Chatham Hall enjoys a location surrounded by airports - seven of them, to be exact! ,, , , and are all within a two-hour drive. is also an option for those not requiring commercial service.

  • Car Travel

    Chatham. Va. sits just off Rt. 29, a major north-south route in the commonwealth.

    Directions from the North

    Take US 29 South to the third Chatham exit (Route 57). Turn right at the top of the exit ramp. At the end of the road, turn right onto Main St. Go through the traffic light and take the second right onto Pruden St. At the bottom of the hill, proceed straight onto the Chatham Hall campus.

    From Raleigh
    Take I-40 west to the Hillsborough exit (Rt. 86 North). Follow the signs to 86 North and follow to south of Danville. South Danville, follow the signs for the US 29 Bypass, north to Lynchburg. Continue on US 29 North for about 18 miles and then take the first Chatham exit. After the traffic light for Route 57, take the second right onto Pruden St. At the bottom of the hill, proceed straight onto the Chatham Hall campus.

    From Greensboro
    Follow the signs to I-40 East. Take I-40 East into Greensboro and then US 29 North to Danville. In Danville, follow the signs for the US 29 Bypass. Continue on US 29 North for approximately 18 miles and then take the first Chatham exit. After the traffic light for Route 57, take the second right onto Pruden St. At the bottom of the hill, proceed straight onto the Chatham Hall campus.
  • Campus Parking

    Visitors can park in front of Pruden Hall, the first large building with white columns on the main campus circle. Enter through the front portico and proceed to the front desk in the Well. You may also park in the main parking lot behind Yardley Dining Hall, next to Penny Lane.
